2014 Chevrolet Impala: Consumer Reports’ Most Improved Redesigned Car

August 27, 2013 by - Automotive Editor

Consumer Reports has recently recognized the 2014 Chevrolet Impala as the most improved re-engineered or redesigned vehicle model that they have tested.

Based on the information provided by the magazine, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala has just obtained an overall test score of 95 which eventually allowed it to occupy the top spot of the most improved redesign car model list that Consumer Reports have created for this year. The said score also reflects a 32-point increase in score that the Impala has obtained in the previous year when the vehicle only got the rating of 63 out of 100 points.

When asked to comment regarding the significant increase in the overall test score of the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, Consumer Reports stressed that Chevrolet was quite successful in transforming the vehicle from an outdated and inferior car rental option into a contemporary, comfortable, roomy and fun to drive car. The magazine also hinted that with a score as high as 95, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala might actually be considered as one of the best cars in the world right now.

Aside from revealing the actual results of the tests that they have conducted on almost every redesigned car model in the market, Consumer Reports has also explained that the overall scores that all of the models that were subjected to tests were obtained from the results of more than 50 road tests and evaluations that the magazine has conducted.

Such evaluations looked upon the emergency handling capabilities of each model, their fuel economy, braking control, acceleration performance and interior features. Thus, the results of the tests could be considered as a more comprehensive way of looking at the improvements that each redesigned car models in the market have achieved.

Finally, Consumer Reports has also revealed that aside from the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, there are still a number of redesigned car models such as the Hyundai Accent Hatchback, Audi A6, and the Land Rover LR4 that were also able to obtain the best improvements. The Hyundai Accent Hatchback obtained the overall score of 72 for 52 last year, the Audi A6 got the score of 93 from 79 last year and the Land Rover LR4 got the ratings of 73 from 60 last year.

  1. You fellows failed to examine the 2014 Impala fully. I am very disappointed with my purchase and here are a few reasons why:

    1. The Paint job is a cheap paint job that chips and scratches at the slightest of touch of a pebble, sand, or piece of papers roll off of it on the roadway. The chips are magnified by the fact that behind the paint GM chose to use a white primer that makes every scratch all the more visible.

    2. The Glass Windshield and windows appear to manufacture out of what I believe is the lowest quality glass that GM could find.

    3. The Wheel Well Inserts behind the wheels are made out of some sort of cheap cardboard and already one has come lose and scrubs the rights front tire.

    4. The Speed Odometer and Cruise Control are not in alignment. When I set the Cruise to a certain speed the Cruise control will read one speed all while the Odometer will read two or more miles higher leaving me to not know which is accurate. I am sure the cop will let me know soon.

    5. When the automobile is going uphill or downhill the Transmission will disengage, float as not in gear, and thump back into gear when it need to engage.

    6. The Doors all four have weak hinges that when parked on a slant the door does not hold in place long enough for you to get out and you find yourself wrestling with the door press against you to get out.

    1. Thank you for the very detailed description of the issues you’ve encountered. It’s important for our readers to know the good and bad about Impala ownership. Chevrolet is very good with customer feedback. I recommend that you contact them directly. You can find the form here: Chevrolet Customer Feedback.
